Cyber Essentials
Designed specifically for small to medium-sized businesses, Cyber Essentials is a UK Government backed scheme to aid the creation of a secure IT infrastructure, in line with GDPR requirements, which prevents approximately 80% of cyberattacks. The scheme uses 5 controls to ensure most vulnerabilities are secured. These 5 controls give an organisation a high level of cybersecurity without an enterprise-level cost, and provides a simplified framework, whilst still preventing or mitigating as much as 99.3% of attacks (University of Lancaster study).
Times are changing, meaning methods of cyberattacks are constantly changing and evolving too. Cyber Essentials gives organisations a layered approach to cybersecurity, therefore providing more effective protection than traditional endpoint security.

The Benefits
When even a simple virus or piece of malware can result in the loss of company and client data, disruption to cash flow, time wasted trying to solve it, and the reputational damage of data breach, prevention is better than a cure. Cyber Essentials prevents the majority of cyberattacks, and, since it was made mandatory in October 2014 to hold a Cyber Essentials certificate if you handle public sector or local authority contracts, it allows you to bid for these.
It also covers the technical baseline of devices for GDPR, PCI-DSS, HIPAA, ISO27001 and others.
What We Offer
There are two routes to achieving certification: self-audited or externally audited. The self-audited approach involves your organisation assessing itself against five basic security controls:
- Boundary firewalls/internet gateways
- Secure configuration
- Access control
- Malware protection
- Patch management
We offer Cyber essentials certification from as little as £550 and Cyber Essentials Plus certification from £1600.
How?
We start by carrying out a security audit to identify all compliance risks. We then put together a remediation plan to ensure that all risks are mitigated and that you have all of the mechanisms, tools, policies and processes in place to be able to complete the certification process.
